Lviv- was created as a small fortress town of Galicia-Volyn principality and raised so far in the economic and cultural center of western Ukraine.
Lviv- is regional center of Lviv region of Ukraine. Lviv is seventh most populous city in Ukraine.

Population:In January 1, 2011 the resident population of Lviv was 760,026 persons.

History: City was founded in 1256 Galicia-Volyn prince Daniil Romanovich and named after his son Lev. But archaeologists suggest that settlement on place of the modern city (near Square Rynok, in the territory Onufrievskogo monastery, church of John the Baptist and Street Armenian) existed in XII century.
In the Middle AgesLvivwas an important trading center. During Austrian domination city became a center of Ukrainian and Polish national liberation movements. After the collapse of Austria-Hungary was capital of Western Ukrainian National Republic (ZUNR). Before the Second World War belonged to Poland, after the Molotov - Ribbentrop Pact was annexed by the Soviet Union.
The historic center of Lviv declared to the World Heritage by UNESCO. The city has many of architectural monuments in Ukraine. In 2009 Lviv was awarded the title of Cultural Capital of Ukraine. The city periodically holds a leading place in the ratings of the tourist and investment attractiveness.

Transportation: Main form of public transport inLvivare buses called marshrutne taxi. They serve 64% of town s passenger traffic. Also are working trolleybus and tram lines. Later, consider possibility of building underground transport, which is tentatively scheduled for 2020-2030's.
For international and national transportations there are: Lviv railway stationandinternational airport Lviv named after Danylo Halitskiy, which is located in 6 km from city center. Also, through the city passing international highway M06, M09, M10 and M11.
